The Dai Minh pomelo is a local specialty. They are grown on more than 450ha of land for an annual productivity of 120,000 tonnes and stable incomes for over 3,000 housholds.

This year, about 12 million Dai Minh pomelos are needed to be consumed between September and December.

Lu Duc Dung, a resident in Dai Minh commune’s Phai Tung village, said "the eighth and ninth lunar months is the time when the commune welcomes a large number of pomelo traders. This year, the disease has calmed down, and we hope for a favourable weather till the harvest and successful crop."

Nguyen Kim Giao from the commune’s Minh Than village is passionate about learning and applying scientific and technical advances to pomelo cultivation.

Giao said the use of organic fertiliser in caring for the trees has been carefully done by his family. At the time of harvest, his pomelo is expected to weight a maximum of 800g - 1.2 kg per unit.

Meanwhile, the family of To Van Huu in Hong Quan village, Han Da commune, is among those selected by the district’s office of agriculture and rural development and VN-GREEN organic agriculture joint stock company for the conduction of a project on developing linked production following value chain for the consumption of Dai Minh pomelos from 2020.

Huu said due to complicated developments of COVID-19, he has been guided to sell his pomelos on social networks and digital platforms such as voso.vn, and buoivn.vn, which he will continue to do this year.

Yen Binh has scheduled to hold a virtual conference serving distribution connection, collaborate with the Big C supermarket in Hanoi to distribute local pomelos, and maintain local points of sale.
