Yen Bai to host ceremony receiving UNESCO certificate on Xoe Thai dance

YênBái - A ceremony to receive UNESCO’s certificate recognising the art of Xoe dance of the Thai ethnic minority people as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity will be held on September 24 evening at Nghia Lo Township Stadium.

The information was revealed by Vice Chairwoman of the provincial People’s Committee Vu Thi Hien Hanh, who is head of the organising board, at a press conference held recently.
There will be an art programme with the theme "Xoe Thai - The essence of the heritage region" with the participation of more than 3,000 artists, artisans and people, she said.
It comprises three chapters that spotlight the quintessence of Xoe art with historical scenes and stories recreating the unique culture of the Muong Lo Thai people. Over 2,000 people will join a Xoe dance performance.
Vu Thi Hien Hanh, vice chairwoman of the provincial People's Committee, urged agencies to ensure the best conditions for reporters covering the event.
Within the framework of the event, a number of activities will be organised, including a street carnival on the streets of Nghia Lo township on September 24 and a festival with the participation of over 500 artisans and local residents.
Nghia Lo will also host exhibitions, fairs and other performances at the weekends during September.
Along with Nghia Lo township and Mu Cang Chai district, localities in the province also will hold many cultural events that are imbued with national identity, attracting a large number of tourists to Yen Bai before, during and after the festival which lasts until the end of this year.
