The opening of the new academic year held special significance to local teachers and students as it not only marked school reopening year after summer and a prolonged hiatus caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, but also launched an important academic year in the educational reform roadmap under the general education programme issued in 2018.

The province is currently home to 447 schools which are qualified for carrying out the general education programme for the 3rd, 7th, and 10th grades.

The local educational sector has recruited 529 teachers and sent 15 English-language ones from different localities to the mountainous districts of Tram Tau and Mu Cang Chai, helping partly address the shortage of teachers for some subjects to implement the new general education programme.

Besides, the sector and localities have also strived to ensure textbook sufficiency, especially for students in remote and ethnic minority areas, while calling for textbook donation and increasing scholarships for students from poor families.

On the opening day of the new academic year, leaders of Yen Bai, departments, sectors, and localities came to schools province-wide to extend congratulations and share the joy with local teachers and students.
