However, forest protection and wildfire fighting have met a range of difficulties as the severe dry season often lasts from October to May.

To prevent wildfire, the local forest rangers have suggested districts, communes, townships, and forestry companies consolidate tasks forces for forest protection and wildlife fighting, set out plans, and step up the information work since the beginning of the dry season.

They have also reported the forest situation in communes and townships to authorities in a timely manner in order to put forth specific plans and tasks.

The forest rangers have coordinated with the People’s Committees of communes and townships and local residents to devise rules on forest protection linked with local custom, and organise training on wildlife fighting.

The unit has signed commitments with households in all hamlets in this regard, helping to create significance changes in the mindset of local residents.

At the same time, they have made field-trips to communes, townships and hamlets to enhance the work, provided consultation for all-level leaders to build directives and plans on forestry product management, and conducted supervisions over forest protection and management, along with the illegal production, business, transportation and processing of forestry products.

The forest rangers have so far this year detected and handled 17 cases of violations of the forestry law, seized 17,273 cu.m of timber, and contributed 39 million VND to the budget.
