Vang Hoa Binh Homestay in Pang Cang hamlet, Suoi Giang commune - the 100-year-old wooden roof house covered with moss always leaves a deep impression on any tourist.

Vang A Dao, the owner of the homestay, said: "My family is one among five households in the commune providing homestay services. Tourism business households have contributed to changing the appearance of the locality, preserving and introducing the traditional culture of the Mong ethnic group to tourists from everywhere".

Service business facilities and local people have been guided to effectively provide homestay services, and improve awareness of protecting and promoting the value of cultural heritage.

Do Trung Kien, a tourist from Ho Chi Minh City, said: "Stopping in Suoi Giang commune on the way to discover the Northwest, I was very impressed with the beautiful natural landscape, fresh air, and traditional cultural beauty, as well as the friendliness and hospitality of the Mong ethnic group here".

Suoi Giang has also well implemented the province’s mechanisms and policies to develop tourism, especially Resolution No.10 of the provincial People's Council on stipulating a number of policies to support tourism development in Yen Bai province in the 2021 – 2025 period, including supporting the procurement of equipment for five homestays, building a public toilet serving tourists, and locating 46 garbage bins on main roads, tourist sites, tourist service businesses in the locality.

Thanks to the concerted implementation of tourism development solutions, tourism activities in Suoi Giang initially achieved positive results when attracting 43,000 tourists in the first six months of 2022.

Developed tourism, increased number of tourists, and upgraded tourism infrastructure are not only encouraging results, but also a challenge for the local Party committee and authorities to ensure sustainable development.

Luong Van Tam, Chairman of the Suoi Giang commune People's Committee, said that the commune proposed several solutions for tourism development such as intensifying the conservation and promotion of indigenous traditional cultural values, building a space for community-based tourism and eco-tourism associated with environmental protection in order to create quality, diverse, competitive and attractive tourism products, and upgrade infrastructure without harming the natural landscape, the environment and culture.
