Free checks of heart diseases provided to over 2,700 children in Yen Bai

YênBái - The “Operation Healthy Heart” programme partnered with telecom firm Viettel Yen Bai, Hanoi Heart Hospital, and the Yen Bai Hospital of Obstetrics and Peadiatrics to provide free checks of heart diseases for children aged under 16 in the northern province of Yen Bai on October 31 – November 1.

More than 2,700 children received heart screenings at Nghia Lo General Hospital and the Yen Bai Hospital of Obstetrics and Peadiatrics, which detected 69 cases with problems, including 37 cases requiring surgery.

Launched in October 2008, the Operation Healthy Heart provides free heart surgeries for disadvantaged children under 16 under a joint effort of "Quy Tam Long Viet” (Viet Heart Funds), the national Vietnam Television (VTV), and military-run telecom Viettel.

The programme has so far given free surgeries to nearly 6,000 children from difficult backgrounds and screenings for over 130,000 children all over the nation.
