Yen Bai: Orchard area tops 9,600 ha

YênBái - The effective implementation of an orchard development project has so far this year raised the total area under fruit trees in Yen Bai to 9,600 ha, a rise of 717 ha compared to the same period last year.

Those posting the largest increase include pomelo by 390 ha and orange 197 ha, located in some districts of Van Chan, Yen Binh, Luc Yen and Van Yen, among others.

The area under other trees also surged from 2019 because localities have switched to new varieties, such as dragon fruit up more than 24 ha, papaya over 19 ha, jackfruit nearly 47 ha, and guava about 16 ha.

To build a concentrated production zone and improve economic results for locals, the province has called on people to apply technological advances under VietGAP standards, promoting trade and local brands to other markets.
