The campaign, which was launched by the Vietnam Red Cross Society in 2008, is one of the meaningful activities as well as important tasks of the Red Cross at all levels.

The Standing Board of the Society has directed its chapters to conduct a survey on the number of the needy in the locality and devise plans to mobilise organisations and individuals to help those with extremely difficult circumstances.

The chapters in districts and cities were asked to compile dossiers of the needy which will serve as the foundation for charity activities.

The campaign "Every organisation and individual attaches to a humanitarian address” was carried out in a diverse form. The RCSYB has adopted a number of typical models of social and humanitarian work such as the cow bank project or a rice one which helps the poor access to grain, supporting the building or repairing of houses for poor households and families with difficult circumstances due to the lack of livelihood.

Through the society’s activities, poor households in the province have been regularly assisted by organisations and individuals in and outside the province. Over the past five years, 510 have been updated to the society’s system and included in the operation of iNhandao platform.

All communes, wards and townships have completed the survey and made records of 2,682 needy people. The deployment of humanitarian activities is renovated towards greater practicality and efficiency. The Red Cross's role as the coordinator in these activities has been confirmed, contributing to reducing overlaps and creating unity in the awareness and actions of the committees and local authorities.

During the tenure, over 3,000 people were supported with nearly 2.3 billion VND (about 98,450 USD). Up to 55 percent of poor households were provided with monthly assistance from the RCSYB or other organisations, agencies, and benefactors.

In the coming time, Yen Bai province’s Red Cross Society and its chapters at all levels will continue to review and classify poor households that need support, identify target groups according to support needs in accordance with the ability of each donor, thereby creating a widespread movement, bringing practical and sustainable effects.
