The worship of Hung Kings is practiced regardless of families, geographical areas, and ethnic groups, which has formed the core value of the Vietnamese culture and contributed to the great national solidarity. It could be said that there are no other countries in the world where their entire people worship common ancestors like in Vietnam.

Every year, the commemoration is held solemnly, featuring both rituals and festivities deeply imbued with folk identities. It is carried out by the community with favourable conditions given by the State.

Apart from rituals, folk cultural activities like palanquin processions, singing Xoan - a folk music genre, playing bronze drums, and making "banh chung” and "banh day” - two traditional dishes have been revitalised, helping preserve the Hung Kings Temple Festival and illustrate the diversity of the folk culture related to the Hung Kings’ era.

Nowadays, the commemoration of Hung Kings - Hung Kings Temple Festival has become a popular cultural practice among the majority of Vietnamese people. It is associated with the worship of ancestors - part of the traditional culture and also a symbol of the national spirit and community connectivity in Vietnam.

From Hung Kings Temple in Phu Tho province - the centre of the worship, the practice has strongly spread to other Hung Kings temples nationwide and abroad. All the relic sites and temples dedicated to the kings have been preserved and become a vivid demonstration of the fact that spiritual values exist sustainably in the community’s cultural and spiritual life.

Basing on this, the tradition of expressing gratitude has become an integral part of the Vietnamese culture.

The worship of Hung Kings also reflects the consensus and voluntariness of Vietnamese people nationwide as well as those living abroad.

The commemoration of Hung Kings - Hung Kings Temple Festival, held on the 10th day of the third lunar month annually, is the largest national-scale cultural and spiritual festival.

It is also an important occasion for Vietnam to introduce the valuable and unique heritage that dates back thousands of years to international friends.
