Tran Yen district aims to grow over 180 ha of “Bat do” bamboo shoots in 2022

YênBái - Tran Yen district of Yen Bai province planned to plant more than 180 ha of “Bat do” bamboo shoots in 2022, mainly in the four communes of Luong Thinh, Hong Ca, Kien Thanh and Hung Khanh.

According to Vice Chairman of the district People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Mau, growing "Bat Do” bamboo shoots is one of the key agricultural economic programmes of Tran Yen. 

The district has developed a concentrated cultivation area of "Bat Do bamboo shoots with a total area of over 3,700 ha. In 2021, the total output of bamboo shoots reached over 30,000 tonnes worth over 100 billion VND.

The district strives to develop a large-scale concentrated raw material area in the coming time by expanding the "Bat do” bamboo shoot growing area to 4,000 ha by 2025. The annual production is expected to reach 40,000 tonnes of bamboo shoots. 

The local authority will also actively cooperate with businesses to develop deep processing establishments, thus improving the value of products and incomes for local people.
