The ceremony was held solemnly with traditional rituals, including the offering of cakes, fruits and the procession of fish from Thac Ba Lake to the temple. 

At the ceremony, local leaders and residents offered incense to the Mother Goddess to pray for a year of good weather as well as peace. The festival is a special spiritual cultural practice that shows the tradition of "drinking water, remembering the source” of the Vietnamese people, inspiring the national pride among youngsters. 

Thac Ba temple is located on Hoang Thi mountain with a view of Thac Ba hydropower plant. 

Legend has it that Princess Minh Dat, a daughter of the 18th Hung King, was assigned to manage Troi Thuy area, or Chay river area today, and teach locals to cultivate rice, develop the weaving craft, fishing and forest planting, thus forming Thu Vat area, Phu Binh (a provincial-level administrative unit). 

In memory of her devotion, locals built the temple on a waterfall in Dao Ngan commune, which is Thac Ba township now, venerating her as a Mother Goddess. Each year, locals offer incense to the Mother Goddess to pray for bumper crops, peace and happiness. 

Earlier on February 8, the Phuc Hoa community house festival was held in Han Da commune, Yen Binh district, along with Kha Linh community house festival in Dai Minh commune, Yen Binh district. The annual events are part of the festivals held in Chay area of Yen Binh.
