Initiated in 2015, the "Lighting up the countryside” project has helped lit up many rural areas, facilitating the night life of local residents and ensuring security, order and safety in the locality.

Tan Lap commune in Luc Yen district is a particularly difficult commune, where local roads are mostly dirt or newly-paved ones, making it difficult for people's travel and trade activities.

Since 2018, Tan Lap commune’s youth union has installed lighting systems along nearly 6 km of roads in the framework of the "Lighting up the countryside” project with a total investment of more than 40 million VND. Of the money, 10 million VND was funded by the commune’s youth union, and the rest was donated by organizations and individuals.

Phuc An commune’s youth union is the pioneer in Yen Binh district in implementing the "Lighting up the countryside” project.

So far, most of the villages in Phuc An commune have had lighting systems worth several hundreds of millions of dong, contributing to local security and order, traffic safety, and bringing joy to local residents.

Dang Van Tan, a resident living in Phuc An commune, said the lighting systems have made local people's life easier, contributing to the programme of new-style rural area building in the locality.

Since 2019, through fully tapping resources and applying a creative implementation method, the provincial Youth Union has constructed more than 200 km of lighting systems worth billions of Vietnam dong in Yen Bai city, and all districts and towns. Many lighting works were constructed in remote and disadvantaged areas of the locality.

The "Lighting up the countryside” project in Yen Bai province was hounoured as one of 50 typical youth projects in the country in 2019.
