This was a meaningful activity towards the 50th founding anniversary of the Vietnam - India diplomatic ties and the 75th Independence Day of India. It was also meant to respond to the Prime Minister-launched programme on planting 1 billion trees nationwide during the 2021 - 2025 period.

At the event, 125 "giang huong” (Pterocarpus macrocarpus Kurs) trees presented by the Indian Embassy were planted on the road section linking National Highway 32C with Noi Bai - Lao Cai Expressway in Ngoi Chau hamlet of Gioi Phien commune, Yen Bai city. This route is expected to be a beautiful road in the province in the near future.

At the reception for Ambassador Pranay Verma, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Do Duc Duy expressed his hope that the Indian Embassy will continue assisting Indian businesses and localities to access and help Yen Bai tap into local development potential, while carrying out programmes to help Indian firms learn about opportunities to invest in Yen Bai, particularly in the areas the province has strength in.

Eight Indian enterprises are investing and doing business in Yen Bai province, mostly in the exploitation and processing of stone for export, creating jobs for nearly 1,000 locals. In the first nine months of 2021, they contributed 150 billion VND (6.6 million USD) to the local budget.

During the trip, the Indian Embassy and the Van Chan district People’s Committee signed a memorandum of understanding on the sponsorship for the quick impact project in Van Chan district. The 50,000-USD project, proposed by Yen Bai province, will build an inter-farm irrigation system in Ao Sen hamlet of Dong Khe commune.
