Conference connects Yen Bai businesses with Vietnamese Trade Offices abroad, foreign partners

YBO - The Yen Bai Department of Industry and Trade has organised an online trade exchange conference connecting local businesses with the Vietnamese Trade offices abroad and foreign partners.

The event aimed to support enterprises in promoting and introducing their products and seeking export markets for Yen Bai’s strong products amidst the complicated developments of the COVID-19 pandemic.

With the advantages of a mountainous locality with high potential in land and mineral resources, Yen Bai has focused on developing material regions for agricultural and forestry products to produce diverse industrial and agricultural products.

Many products of the province have become strong export products, including tea, cinnamon, wood, base paper, tapioca, noodle and Bat do bamboo shoots. The major markets for mineral products include India, Bangladesh, Thailand, Brunei, the Republic of Korea, Japan, Hong Kong (China), and Sri Lanka.

At the conference, representatives from the Vietnamese Trade Offices in India, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Pakistan, Indonesia and China updated participants on the potential and advantages of the host country as well as the situation of Vietnamese goods in the markets.

They also highlighted the market demands and consumption trend in the countries as well as criteria in quality for products such as bee honey, tea, Bat Do bamboo shoot, cinnamon oil, tapioca, wood, stone powder and white limestone.

In order for Yen Bai’s products to reach more markets in the world, the representatives advised the local firms to focus on improving the quality, package and models of the products, along with their origins and sale follow-up.

The firms should pay more attention to international trade law and issues related to tax and customs, while verifying the prestige of partners to avoid risks. They should also consider matters related to culture and consumption trends as well as regulations in countries to ensure their products meet the criteria for exporting through official channel.

Businesses at the event showed their hope for more support from the province through conference to connect with other markets in the world, especially those in Europe to create favourable conditions for them to approach new technology and expand production scale and export market.

Vice Chairman of the Yen Bai People’s Committee Ngo Hanh Phuc said that Yen Bai hopes that in the future, the Vietnamese Trade Offices in different countries as well as investors and domestic and foreign organisations will strengthen cooperation in investment and trade promotion to increase sales of Yen Bai products. Meanwhile, the province also expects more effective coordination from agencies and organisation in domestic and foreign trade promotion, especially support from the Trade Promotion Agency under the Ministry of Industry and Trade in promoting exports.

Defining public investment disbursement, including foreign capital, is the most important task, Yen Bai province has proactively devised plans on how to use the funding and repay loans in line with local resources as well as arrange resources to pay debt and fulfill repayment obligations, ensuring that outstanding debt is closely controlled.
