Director of the Yen Bai Power Company Cao Binh Dinh said to finish and put the power grid upgrade project into use this summer, the firm has asked contractors to detail the project implementation plan, pledge to complete on schedule, and regularly report on the progress, obstacles, and hindrances so as to take timely response measures.

The company’s board of directors has assigned tasks to and requested relevant units to actively work with contractors to deal with site clearance bottlenecks, cut off power appropriately to serve project implementation and reduce the power outage duration, and step up supervision.

In his newly built house, Dao man Dang Van Phe joyfully said people of his ethnic group in mountainous Vien Son commune of Van Yen district are very happy when electricity workers came to replace transmission lines and utility poles. Now, there will no longer be rotational outage due to overloaded transmission lines in summer.

Having gained access to electricity, his family will air condition the new house this summer, the man said, thanking the Government for bringing power to this mountainous area.

Luu Trung Kien, Vice Chairman of the Van Yen district People’s Committee, said recently, the development of cinnamon and timber plantation has given a facelift to rural and mountainous areas, which is partly attributable to the electricity sector. Cinnamon oil, wood processing, and mineral exploitation facilities in the district often consume a great volume of power. As transformer stations have been upgraded and become operational, local enterprises are now able to stabilise their operations and deliver goods to partners on schedule, thus contributing to the State budget.

So far, nearly 747km of transmission lines and 390 transformer stations of the Van Yen Power Company have been repaired and upgraded, ensuring power supply for over 37,000 users, including 3,353 using electricity mainly for production and business activities, thus helping reduce the grid overload and power loss.

In 2022, the EVN Northern Power Corporation tasked the Yen Bai Power Company with upgrading seven low- and medium-voltage power grid projects so as to prevent grid overload, reduce power loss, and improve supply quality, including building 22.9km of medium-voltage lines, upgrading 16km of medium-voltage lines, building 49 transformer stations with a total capacity of 13,620kVA, building 33.4km of low-voltage lines, and upgrading 49.8km of low-voltage lines with a view to ensuring sufficient and safe power supply and helping guarantee social security.
